Heat Treatments

Paraffin Wax
Paraffin Wax is pre-heated to a temperature of around 49 degrees celsius. The melted wax is applied by diping the limb into a wax bath or brushing the wax on with a large brush. The layers of melted wax are built up to form a covering of the hand or foot. The wax covering is either wrapped in foil or plastic and wrapped in a towel or cotton mitts/boots. The wax is removed after ten minutes or so. Paraffin wax increases circulation, relaxes muscles, improves the skin colour and texture, deep cleanses, and is good for arthritic joints.

Warm Oil
Warm Oil involves heating a small amount of oil and soaking the fingers in it for 5-10 minutes. Warm Oil can also incorporate an oil massage on hands and arms or feet and legs. This treatment is suitable for clients with dry skin and cuticles and flaking, fragile nails.

Thermal Mitts/Boots
Used in conjunction with hand moisturiser. Mitts or boots are warmed by electricity or by placing on a safe heat source, and then the limbs are wrapped in plastic coverings. The hands or feet are placed in the warmed mitts or boots and left for ten minutes, after this time they are removed. This treatment has a softening effect on hands and feet. An intense moisturiser. Draws out impurities, and regenerates new skin cells. Increases circulation and is good for tired limbs.
